5 Ways to STOP Leaking your Personal Power to ChatGPT (or Any AI Tool)
It started with a simple comment inside The Obvious Choice.
One of the women working through Module 1: Personal Power shared this:
“Interestingly, I think I’m giving a lot of my personal power away to ChatGPT.”
And I felt that in my bones.
Because I’ve done the same.
I’d be working on copy, an idea, a decision and I’d open a session and type: “What should I do about X?”
Not realising I’d already given my power away in the question.
I wasn’t using ChatGPT as a tool to refine or sharpen.
I was seeking validation.
Permission.
A shortcut out of my own knowing.
And listen, I love ChatGPT.
It’s saved me hours.
It’s helped me structure and simplify complex ideas.
But it has also, at times, become the sneakiest place I’ve outsourced my authority.
This is the new frontier of personal power
If we’re not mindful, we’ll train our nervous systems to defer to AI more than our own inner voice.
And that, my love, is a problem.
What is Personal Power, Really?
Inside The Obvious Choice, we define personal power as:
Your ability to stand firmly in your own truth, desires, decisions, and direction without outsourcing your authority to fear, doubt, or other people.
It’s the root of:
- Clear decision-making
- Authentic voice and self-expression
- Bold action and visibility
- Self-trust in life and business
Personal power is the source code of leadership.
And without it, everything becomes shaky, diluted, or confusing.
When we leak it, we second-guess ourselves.
We wobble.
We delay.
We stay small.
And now, more than ever, we have a new leak to watch out for: Artificial Intelligence.
How You Might Be Leaking Personal Power to ChatGPT (Without Realising It)
1. Asking it to make your decisions
“Should I launch this offer?”
“What price should I charge?”
2. Using it to validate your ideas before you trust them
“Does this sound good?”
“What do you think of this title?”
3. Letting it override your brand voice
You write something that feels like YOU, then let GPT water it down.
4. Using it before you check in with yourself
Instead of asking, “What do I think? What do I feel?” you go straight to the GPT.
5. Relying on it to define your identity, messaging, or model
Letting it tell you who you are, rather than helping you refine what you already know.
None of these are inherently wrong.
But over time, they chip away at your clarity, voice, and sovereignty.
Your ChatGPT Leak Repair Kit: Reclaiming Power in the AI Era
If you’re going to use ChatGPT (and I still do daily), here’s how to use it with power not from fear.
1. Check the energy behind the prompt
Ask: “Am I asking this because I don’t trust myself? Or because I want support in refining what I already believe?”
2. Bring your voice first
Example: “Here’s what I want to say, help me make it stronger”
NOT: “Write me something about confidence”
3. Write prompts that affirm your power
“Here’s what I believe – challenge it.”
“Here’s my draft – help me sharpen without diluting my tone.”
“Treat me as a thought leader, not a beginner.”
4. Train it to spot leaks
Literally say: “If I ask for permission, validation, or try to play small call me out.”
5. Build your own toolkit first
Use ChatGPT after you’ve reflected:
- What do I want to say?
- What do I believe?
- What’s the real point I’m making?
Then let AI elevate not author your message.
This Is Not About Fear of AI. It’s About Ownership of You.
AI isn’t going anywhere.
But your power? That’s non-negotiable.
Let ChatGPT be your co-creator, not your crutch.
Let it refine your brilliance not replace it.
Let it sharpen your voice not drown it out.
Because the real revolution isn’t in tech.
It’s in women reclaiming the power they were programmed to give away.
And that starts right here.
In how you ask.
In how you lead.
In who you decide to be.
Your voice. Your power. Your platform.
Everything else is just a tool.
Want to reclaim more of your voice, presence, identity, and leadership?
This is just one conversation inside The Obvious Choice, the program where women are building unforgettable personal brands rooted in power not performance.
